Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Hi! I’m Tom and I play guitar and do some vocals in Battle Born. I founded the band back in 2018 with our other guitarist Will and vocalist Jack, and we’ve recently rounded out the lineup with Chris on bass and Charlie on drums. We finally finished our self-titled debut EP this year, and it’ll be available everywhere on June 26th!
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our style is a nice mix of heavy metal like Manowar and Painkiller-era Judas Priest, and more synth driven power metal like Dreamtale and Battle Beast. There’s obviously a huge range of other influences that have gone into the EP too (probably too many to list), but I think that heavy/power crossover is the core of our sound.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
This band was formed with the sole purpose of bringing the Metal back. We’re here to bring our mighty sound to all corners of the globe, with many a steel-laden riff and dragon-rending scream along the way.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We’ve got two singles from the EP out so far, and the reception has been beyond anything we could have hoped for. I think across all platforms we’ve had over 10k streams, and the fans all seem to be loving them! The reviews for the full EP are coming in too, and they’re all really positive, so we couldn’t be happier really.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Unfortunately the world pandemic has stopped us playing live yet! As I said, we only recently got the full line up sorted, but we’d managed to get a fair few rehearsals in before the lockdown. It was all sounding really tight before, so hopefully we’ll be on the road really soon once all of this is over - we really can’t wait!
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We’ve had an explosive start onto the power metal scene thanks to the incredible wave of fan support; we have every intention of keeping that momentum building, and great things are on the way. The Battle has only just begun!
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We’d love to tour all across the UK and Europe as soon as we’re safely able to do so; we’ve got in touch with some great local bands and we’re going to try and arrange shows or a tour; there’s a band called Fellowship who started out just before us, and we’re super excited to share the stage with them!
After the EP is out, we’ll definitely be starting work on a full length album too. There are a few ideas floating around and they’re sounding excellent, so hopefully we can keep raising the bar.
