Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
The new release named « Août Approche » is composed of 5 titles whose 2 songs are new version of titles of the past album .On this EP, I wish to continue to make a break with previous releases by picking more daringly in some of my influences, like PostPunk and Coldwave to and to looking for several news influences in hip hop and rock music.All track was recorded, mixed in my home and the final mixing and the mastering was released by JackShirley of TheAtomicGardenStudio, same the past album.
How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
I think my music is mainly the result of various influences that mixed together, and with which I worked unconsciously. I try above all to use this medium to try and create a dialogue in the face of my feelings about the world. That may be through the textures of the tracks, their format, the lyrics. There is very broad influences, even though they generally revolve around extreme metal, like atmospheric black metal, post-black, post-hardcore, and as an opposite, some trends of rap and electronic music. I don't know an similar band of mine but I can tell you some band important for me for various genre woh the maybe an source of inspiration : Yelloweyes, fell voices, the psyckeproject, this will destroy you, trentmoller, oktober lieber…
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
For first step, all recording was make in my home at Paris. I have composed and recorded this Ep in 3months. Jack Shirley help me for the final mix and mastering and all was finished in 1weeks in his studio at Oakland. I wish to mark a break with previous albums so I have listen lot of albums of lot of style for try to inspire me with news things. Also I watched some website for looking for new materiel and new technics of mixing etc
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
This album is more experimental I think. With lot of sound effect, different MIDI drums, some sample for example. So for this cover artwork, I had would like an more abstract and contemplative design. I have modified an past photography of Mariette Briand who work with my for my promotional photography. I think this parallel is interesting. The picture can make thinking at a landscape, or at biologic universe or lot of other things and I like this idea.
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
I hope this new release will be received same that the past albums and listening like the progressive change of the vision of BAUME.I can allow me to touch a new listeners. I hope for the futur make a new collaboration with different styles of music like the past album
Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
For the moment, this album will be released in Digipack format. Maybe, in the future, I release this Ep in tape version.
Where and how will you promote this new release?
I started the web promotion with first track in listen with the new videoclip on my bandcamp and with the webzine Cvltnation . I have some partnership with webradio and youtubechannel to.
I hope to make an release party in Paris in the future
