Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.Death agony was founded in 2005 by Olivier (Drums), and me (Matthieu, Guitar-Voice). We had already played together, but listening to more brutal bands we decided to make a death metal band. The actual line up was set up in 2008, with Philippe (2nd guitar). He brought to the music another influences, something in the thrash & old school metal way.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We make death metal, mainly influenced by old school bands. Our particularity in the band is that we all listen to different styles from each other: thrash, black, death, grind, but also heavy metal, rock etc… And we succeed in gathering all those influences in our music because of this main interest in the 90’s metal bands and sound: Slayer, Vader, Six feet under, Behemoth etc…
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Death agony comes from our guts! So if you love music that mixes strong riffs with also oppressive and dark feelings, you have to listen to this! We focus on the bases of death metal, to make people handbanging!
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We started with a first demo in 2007. But Death agony has become a serious project since 2009 and the release of the self-release EP "Resilience”. This CD highlighted our potential and people (metalheads and also gigs organizers) began to show some interest to our music.
Now our first album, "Carcinogenic memories” has been released in September 2012 and has received many positive critics worldwide, and also from national and foreign bands we played with!
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?Playing live is what we want the most! We had the chance to open for such fucking amazing bands since 2010: Debauchery (Ger), Darkane (Swe), Master (USA), Fleshless (CZ), Disgorge (Mex) etc.. . It was a great moment to meet all those guys. We look forward to share again the stage with international bands, and play as much as we can everywhere, meeting metalheads from all over the world!
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
The only thing they have to know is that we’re going to set all stages on fire and blast all ears! We play, breath and live Death metal!
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We‘re already composing for the second album, and it will be stronger and more intense! At the same time, we are working on a Eastern Europe Tour for the end of 2013. We may come to Romania!
