Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Dire Omen started out in 2009 with the idea of starting a new a black/death metal project. It was myself and other members who are no longer around. K joined not too long after on drums. C joined on bass about a year later. A few demos were released in the early years up until the recording of “Severing Soul from Flesh” in 2012 and the new LP this year.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Punishing Death metal riffing with black metal elements like dissonance and atmospheric passages. As far as influences go in the metal realm, just to name a few in no particular order of preferences: Incantation, Immolation, Portal, Arkhon Infaustus, Leviathan, Mayhem, Beherit…..

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We put together a few demos in the early days, until an EP was released in 2012 called “Severing Soul from Flesh”. We knew the direction we took with this EP was right and it created a positive reaction from other musicians and bands that we respect. This eventually led to signing with Dark Descent records and the release of this new LP called “Wresting the revelation of Futility”. So far, the reviews have been very positive, which we are really happy for.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Yes, we do. We completed a Canadian tour in 2012, a prairie tour in 2013 and few occasional shows in places like Vancouver and Portland. We had the opportunity to play on the last Noctis festival in Calgary last year.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
A tour in support of the new Full-length is in the works right. Nothing concrete yet, though. New material is being written at the moment as well, which will very likely take the shape of an EP or a split.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Bandcamp is definitely the best place for it. (direomen.bandcamp.com)
The Dark Descent Records website www.darkdescentrecords.com will also have the album available for streaming and purchase (CD, LP & digital).
