Review:
Oh man, this must be one of the best demos I've heard in a long, long time, probably ever. Not original or innovative, but so catchy and entertaining I can't help playing it over and over again!
By the name of the band and the band's logo I was expecting some sort of Black Metal but instead Envig are plain and unaltered Swedish Death Metal, the Stockholm way, yet losing that crunchy guitar tone Dismember, Entombed and co. made the style famous for. Instead Envig kept the comprehensive semi-growling vocals, the melodic guitar leads, the powerful riffs, catchy refrains and the fast paced rhythm section (D-Beat mixed with traditional Death Metal) that combines with the overall mid-tempo rhythms of the songs. But yes, the best thing about this demo is the fact that you can pinpoint every track by something of its own, a certain lead, a refrain, a riff, something that's so catchy it sticks to your mind even after the audition, and in my books that makes a release perfect! I'm not using big words when I say I love all the tracks on Warmachine, it reminds me of the first time I listen to Six Feet Under's Haunted and got enchanted by the whole of it. Funny fact: the track Angelmaker could easily be an anthem for the Metal fans in Jamaica (if any), to me it sounds like the vocalist is singing "Hail Jamaica" instead of "Angelmaker", check it out yourselves. Agree? :)
