The band started very early on this year, when I met up with a local drummer who is no longer in the band. We found Chris, the bassist relatively quickly, and started rehearsing the material I had written myself the previous year. We recently recorded our first demo, Evangelical, which is available to buy now from the Hex Morbidity BigCartel. Speaking of members, I have played in a couple of rock bands before, which fell apart quite quickly. Chris, before joining, played in a soft rock/pop band Night Light that didn’t do too bad, but he’s moved on to metal now and I am happy he did! 

I would say we are a good combination of black and death metal, and definitely play in the old style. Some have said we have no shred of modern influence, but we are certainly not backward thinking or regressive. The main bands that influenced me to write our material were Morbid Angel, Deicide, Atheist, Dissection and Napalm Death. I also have non-metal influences like The Smiths, Sonic Youth and early Prodigy but non-of those are noticeable at the moment.

The simple reason is that I am sure a metalhead will enjoy our demo! If you’re a fan of any of those metal bands I just mentioned, you’ll definitely find something for you. I’m sure all you old schoolers will want the limited first press cd, but you can get the super cheap download from our Bandcamp if you prefer.

We have just released our first demo, Evangelical, a few days ago. We are currently on the first pressing CD which is strictly limited to 50, hand numbered pro CDRs with glossy discs. We are still just getting in the first few reviews but so far they have all been great, and we have been very pleased with them. The public and other musicians have taken to it really well, and a lot of people have said the CD is excellent and are really excited about the band. 

Currently we are yet to make our live debut because our line-up is missing a drummer at the moment. When we find the right person we’ll get stuck into support slots with other UK bands. All of them should know that we are up for pretty much anything they can do for us and that we are always interested in new opportunities. They should be interested in us because we have our own thing going on that people should pay attention to, and we have some exciting plans for the future.

Everything really depends on what happens with this demo. We only just put it out a few days ago so obviously there are still plans that are yet to be set in concrete. However, we will be releasing a duo of covers either on a split release or for digital download only. That will be coming late this year or early next year. Then we are either prepared to be signed up for a full length or make another demo. Either way it will be something different to what we have done previously, but of course it will still be recognisably Hex Morbidity
