Review:
New stuff from Italy's most hard-working veterans, Neraka is a five tracks EP with three of the tracks being new compositions, one being a live version of an old track, and one being a cover version. Necrodeath are keeping their fans in close contact as they were used for years. Somehow I've always felt this band being underrated and not appreciated at its real value, not sure if that's because they were always linked with an Italian label, Scarlet, and didn't try releasing something on a German or an American label for a change, this might have opened new opportunities I believe. Anyway, getting back to this new EP, the three compositions of theirs are a fantastic display of classy traditional Thrash Metal with Black influences, lead by a versatile, visceral, dedicated Flegias on vocals who does a marvelous job, then a guitar work that has both some killer moments and some that are more generic, a subtle but supportive bass line that perfectly compliments an organic sounding drum line full of energy and violence even. Excellent tracks, infectious and visceral, my fave type of Blackened Thrash Metal! The live version of Flame of Malignance (a track from their 2000 album Mater of All Evil) is again excellent, so intense, so catchy and involving you'll feel like actually being there. The cover version of California Uber Alles by Dead Kennedys unfortunately didn't go down with me at all, I find it a poor song choice for Necrodeath, and the execution is also quite weak.
All in all, except the cover track, I love this new EP by Necrodeath, and wholeheartedly recommend it to you too.
