Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Noctis Imperium was born as a one man project during the year 2001 in Barcelona, Venezuela, by me [Isaias 'Aeneas', vocals/guitars], inspired by black metal music and as a means to escape from society's asphyxiating mental chains and aberrations.
Having recorded two demos by 2004, the project was transformed into a live band with the addition of Daniel 'Hephaestion' (bass), Máriel 'Aegrimonia' (guitar) and Soto (drums).
With this line up we played live constantly through Venezuela from 2005 to the end of 2007, when Soto left the band, having recorded one EP in 2006.
In 2008 we contacted British drumer Nick Barker to record our first full length which we expect to have released by the first quarter of 2011.
In 2009 we took part in what was called "Venezuela Tour 2009", and also were the opening act for the Austrian band Belphegor.
Now (in 2010) we have just finished our first European tour and our first label release, entitled Nihil, just came out in August through Abyss Records, which contains material featuring Barker and our current live drummer, plus some extras.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We started as a raw black metal act, evolving to a more elaborated black/death metal, but is hard to describe our sound with one specific style because of the amount of variations we add to the mix.
Our main influences have always been the classics in heavy metal and it's sub-genres, from Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, to Sarcofago, Burzum, Bathory, Morbid Angel, Death, etc. There are also influences from other music genres, such as psychedelic rock, blues, electronic, etc, but it doesn't reflect much in our overall sound.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
I don't have a reason other than if they like it, they should help us out by buying it.
We aren't the fastest, we aren't the heaviest, but we work our asses off for what we do and we put our souls into it. For us, as much as we've been into it this is just the beginning, so just give it a try and if you like it, buy it!

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
So far we have released two demos (self titled - 2003 and Night divine - 2004), two self released EP's (Evil Philosophies - 2006 and Imperium - 2009) and our first label release, which is another EP entitled Nihil (2010). Our first full length is in it's final stages, so we hope it'll be out soon.
All of our releases so far have been sold out except for Nihil, which just came out this past month, but the reviews are all mostly positive so we'll see how things go.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Yes, we try to stay as active as possible in this department.
We have played  with some of the biggest bands from Venezuela, we have toured our country twice and we try to do as many one offs as we can. We have also opened for various international acts, such as Belphegor from Austria; Masacre, Neurosis Inc. and Amputated Genitals from Colombia; and Social Shit from Argentina.
In June 2010 we finished our first European run, playing in various cities from Portugal, Spain and Holland.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
One thing they should know is that we persevere and work restlessly. Our evolution through the years has shown what we're capable of, but is yet to show what's to come. Maybe with our first full length we'll be able to make a better statement, but Nihil is just a peek of that.
Also, we have gotten the chance to work with a professional such as Nick Barker, who's given us his thumbs up.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Doing as much promotion as possible for our new release, we want to release a short documentary of our recent European tour, also work hard to get the full length out soon, and try and make happen another Eurotour or maybe South American/North American tour.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
www.myspace.com/noctisimperium is the place to check our material, but you can also find us on Youtube and Facebook.
Nihil can be ordered through Abyss Records' website (www.officialabyssrecords.com) and soon will be available through our myspace as well. You can get in touch with us for shows, CD's, merchandise or whatever reason through all those sites or noctisimperium@gmail.com
