Please present your label, when and where was it started, who is involved in its activities and what genres are promoted by it.Good evening and thanks for your interest in our label. NYKTA means "Night” in Greek. Everything started in 2002 by Aithir and me, who are still running the label with the help of a close circle of friends that share the same vision with us on today’s Black Metal. NYKTA has never been tied to any particular style –call it trend if you wish- and we always promote the kind of stuff we like to hear. You can find "pagan”, "depressive”, or "thrash/death” oriented Metal, it is ok for us, as long as it comes from the artist’s heart and it haunts our soul.
Tell us a few words on each or the most important releases of your label, and which of them are still available for purchase.
If you mean best selling albums that would be "Atavismus des Glaubens” of Bilskirnir, the "Untold” of The Shadow Order and the Evilfeast albums. But it would be unfair to say these are most important because of the sales. There are plenty of releases in our catalogue that are underrated. For example both Inthyflesh albums are crushing. Same goes for Vordr ones, the Prevalent Resistance or the Ignis Uranium. Our latest cd release, Wargrinder is a brutal masterpiece. What are the most important features you look for in a band that is or has the chance to be signed on your label?
Both music and character is important. This means that outside good composing skills, a band should have a certain plan on where they want to go.
How can a band get in touch with you? What should bands know before submitting their promos for your consideration?
Contact is possible through our website. Bands that hope to be rich and famous through NYKTA should not bother writing to us.
What's the most important thing in the relationship between you and your bands? What is your label offering to its bands?
We have excellent contact with all our bands even those who have left NYKTA. It is not a coincidence that so many bands have released repeatedly albums on us. This means that both sides –artist and label- are connected. NYKTA offers a wide network of partner labels and our releases can be found in the best underground distros around the globe.
Is there anything you planned with your label and has not yet been completed?More vinyls. Unfortunately we have made only a few. By the way, we have just released a great split ep between Darkthule and Dawn Of Division, 2 Greek bands that we’re in contact for many years.
How does the future looks for your label? Any major projects you would like to share with us?
The world is falling apart, who can tell about our future? For as long as we will be able, we will continue releasing albums with the same fanaticism as 10 years before. Black Metal is not just music…
