Review:
This is the debut and so far the only full-length release by Old Black, a one man band from the North East of France, recorded 4 years before being released, which is odd to say the least. 7 tracks in 35 minutes of playing time, Old Black present us a mid-tempo to fast paced Black Metal influenced by the straight-forward structures and simplicity of Rock'n'Roll and the militaristic touch of Industrial Metal, with a fair share of hooks here and there, especially offered by the guitar work, and a nice surprise: what seem to be live recorded drums (even though we're dealing with a one man band). The compositions are quite simple and raw, but the production is very good, unpolished but crystal-clear, with an analog hint, perfect for this music. The lyrics are totally anti-christian, blasphemic to say the least, and that adds a valuable touch to the music. Not original music, but you'll get the point, simple and straight-forward underground evil Black Metal that sounds honest and pure, nothing more, nothing less.
