Review:
Wow, this was very nice surprise! Not more than two tracks into this album I could already say I was about to love it, and damn I did. This is Prezir's debut studio album, released one year after their well received and reviewed EP, Contempt, and we're offered 8 tracks into 40 minutes of playing time. Essentially this is fast paced, uncompromising, devastating Black Metal, but with serious influences from Death and Thrash Metal as well, and the result is stunning! There's not much melody here except for some melodic (maybe too strong a word for this) guitar leads and solos, buit the rest is absolutely ferocious from start to finish. The compositions are based on an intense and dense guitar work offering varied and mostly catchy guitar riffs, old-school American type Death Metal solos and some melodic guitar leads. The drums and bass lines are as intense and varied as the guitars, adding their own oppressive contribution to the obscure, brutal atmosphere created by Prezir, and last but not least, the vocal section made by screams as main tonality and grunts as supporting, and they work so damn well together. To me it reminded mostly of the good old Necrophobic although the band mentions other names as main influences, but anyway, if you're into dark, oppressive, fast, demonic, brutal as fuck Metal do youselves a favor and check out this album.
