Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
SARMAT band started in 2018. It was founded by two co-founders (both guitarist): Daniel Szymanowicz and Krzysztof Kopczeński. They lived in one town at that time (now they don’t). I joined them in autumn of 2020. I was asked earlier for recording the vocals for the “RS-28” album they have been preparing and have had in recording process, if I may describe the situation this way. My full cooperation started a while later. Each of us has played in a band or bands before, but I see no sense in mentioning them all.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
The music style for SARMAT is a mixture of death and black metal. I hear it exactly in the middle between. It is not declared to one specific genre. If we speak about influential bands for SARMAT members, I may only speak for myself. They are IMMOLATION, MORBID ANGEL, late GORGUTS, early VADER and a few others.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Because it’s energetic. It’s full of energy. If metalheads like aggression, speed and energy in music (and they should), the “RS-28” album by SARMAT band from Poland is for them.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
“RS-28” is the debut full length album of SARMAT. The band hasn’t released anything before this one. As for now I may inform that the reactions are very good. We have released the digital version only so far (CD are still to come) and put the full album stream on our YouTube channel, but we got a lot of positive reactions. On the other hand, there is so much music nowadays, that people would have had a lot of desperation to contact with us only for tell us that they think our album is shitty :-). Don’t You think so?
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We haven’t played live already. We have no full time job drummer (the drum parts on the “RS-28” were recorded by the session musician) and our present line-up came to live in the pandemic time, when all live shows were disabled. But we are going to play live, when it will be possible.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
They all should know that SARMAT band name concept is taken from The Weapon of Ultimate Destruction – the Russian super-heavy intercontinental missile RS-28 SARMAT (known also as SATAN 2) and telling that we take no prisoners is not enough – we destroy all life forms on the huge area in the part of a second.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
To release the physical forms of our “RS-28” album – CD as the first, vinyl as the next one. We are still working on the music for the next release. I think it could be something lasting shorter than a regular album – EP or MCD, we shall see. To promoting the debut album, to look for the exact people to cooperate in the future – these all are our near future plans.
