Review:
The two members of Babylon Asleep whom we're previously met through their split with Excruciation, are back in action, but this time with another project, the Black Metal fueled Schwermut, and here is their debut EP. With only 3 tracks featured, the EP still clocks 20 minutes of playing time, and the music it proposes to the listener is a melodic and atmospheric infused mid-tempo to fast paced Black Metal with German sung lyrics that give it a nice rough, piercing edge for fans of harsher aspects of this genre (the vocals remind me somehow of Czech Avenger). Both the guitar riffs and the leads are giving a melancholic, depressive kind of atmosphere to the music, so we're not dealing with aggressive stuff, maybe aggressive only for the uninitiated. The bass lines are fat and upfront, and so we get a reminder the two members of the band are also in a Sludge/Doom project. Good start from this new project, I just hope they won't stop here and continue releasing stuff, otherwise this EP won't mean anything to anyone.
