Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
The new album, «Djevelpakt» is an album that is heavily influence from the Norwegian black metal of the 90´s. The album includes 8 tracks of blasphemy and devil worship in the good old spirit from the past millennium. Stormfront is picking up the thread from where it was left when the band was put on hold in 1999. The music has a cold and depressive, yet raw atmosphere which should touch the soul of the followers of the 1990´s black metal!

How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
The music can be described as black metal. Plain and simple! As I mentioned in the previous question it has a cold, depressive, atmospheric and raw sound, and the easiest way to label it will be black metal. I think it does not need ending up under anything more specific than that. If the listeners would call it something else, that will be up to them. The listeners so far has compared the music with old Emperor, old Immortal, Abyssic Hate, old Darkthrone, old Burzum, Wigrid, old Thorns and some has even mentioned old Mayhem. The best is that they say that Stormfront is a combination between these bands, and that Stormfront has created their own sound.

Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
It was recorded in Chaos Studio, which is Stormfront´s own studio in Lillehammer. It took some time to record, but I have no idea of how many hours in total. The album was recorded when I was in the right mood during 2016/2017, and I think I spent 10-15 whole weekends until it was done. The mixing and mastering was also done by Stormfront, and can also be included in the total. The layout was also made by Stormfront, so it´s hard to say how long it took in total. There is in fact only one interesting story from the recording. After the track “Fimbulvinter” was done and I was creating the master-disc, the drum track has disappeared. It was completely missing from the track, even if I saw it still was on the recording. The sound of them was gone, and I tried re-recording them but it was still no sound. By luck I discovered I had accidently pressed a button which muted the entire track, and when I pushed this button again the drums returned. It was the final track that was recorded, and I became a bit stressed since I had promised to send the master-disc the same day.

What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
The cover artwork is a painting done by the artist Jan Ziamko, and it´s named “A Witches Sabbath.” The painting was found in the book “Exorcising Our Demons.” It suits the title of the album nice, since the word “djevelpakt” means pact with the Devil. Most of the lyrics from “Djevelpakt” is dealing with witchcraft, war against Christianity, devil worship, ancient Norwegian myths about walpurgisnacht and selling your soul to the Devil to become a soldier in the army of Hell.

What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
This release was made the way Stormfront wants black metal to be like, and is a sort of a “protest” to modern black metal sound. I hope the underground black metal followers appreciate the old school sound of Stormfront, and that we can inspire others to do the same. Underground black metal the old way has always been what Stormfront has preferred, and now the time was right to release this album. The aim right now is to sell the album, so our message goes out to as many as possible! Another aim is to hopefully get a full line up, so it will be possible to spread our hatred towards Christianity live as well!! I also hope it´s possible to open the eyes of today´s youth surrounding Lillehammer, so a metal scene once again can grow in this city.

Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
“Djevelpakt” has so far been released only as CD, but if the sales will be good there has been talk about a vinyl version. The CD was pressed in only 500 copies, and so far 25 % of the copies have been sold in only 2 months. I think that is quite ok for not being very active with Stormfront the last 20 years.

Where and how will you promote this new release?
Since the world has changed since the demo was released in 1997, the main arenas for promoting Stormfront is now through our Facebook-page, through various metal forums on internet, hopefully through some webzines and metal magazines. Stormfront has also uploaded 3 songs on YouTube for promoting our music.
