Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Hello friends of Pest Zine, my name is Mario Urra, bassist of the Chilean metal band, Weight of Emptiness. The rest of the band is formed by Alejandro Ruíz on vocals, Juan Acevedo and Alejandro Bravo on guitars, and Mauricio Basso on drums.
The band was born as former members of Twilight Mist, an old metal band where the Weight of Emptiness project was created in 2012. Once Mauricio Basso joined their ranks, 2015 was taken as the official birth of Weight of Emptiness as a band. In 2018 I joined the boys and from there we have maintained the alignment that I described to you.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We are simply a (extreme) metal band, hence the other musicians, fans or specialized critics describe us as Death Metal, Black Metal, Doom Metal with progressive sounds, it is another thing, even though you can distinguish the styles that you I mentioned and more during our songs.
On the other hand, the influences of the band are very varied, we hear many branches of rock and metal, and other styles of music as well, whether it be more folkloric, urban, experimental, etc. I personally listen to many bands that have influenced me, both when it comes to composing and how to move around on stage, such as Iron Maiden, Voivod, Kreator, Rush, King Crimson, etc.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Because they are built on the true feeling of the metalhead, we do not seek to be famous, but if we want the listener of our records to feel that power that is to listen to a metal record, to make him forget his problems for the moment and take the strength of our albums.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
In 2017, our first full-length album, Anfractuous Moment for Redemption, came out to the world, which allowed us to tour Chile and also tour Mexico. To this day, good comments are still being written by specialized critics. Later in 2019, we released our second album, Conquering the Deep Cycle, which allowed us to show it in Chile and a tour of Europe, where we were able to show it in Spain, Romania and Bulgaria, as well as allowing us to travel and play three dates in Argentina. . Unfortunately, the current world situation made us postpone upcoming dates in our country and the rest of the world.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Continuing with the previous answer, being able to play live is fabulous, it is the contact with the people who follow us. One fact is that we prepare ourselves a lot to deliver a good show, there is nothing random, and the delivery we give is independent of the number of people who go to the show.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
As I mentioned before, the band works from the emotion of the metalhead. From the boy who sees a rock or metal band live for the first time and says…. This is what I want to do.
Weight of Emptiness is built on that, friendship and the desire to make music.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
The global pandemic truncated the dates we had to continue showing the Conquering the Deep Cycle, so we must resume the plans for the tour in Chile, in addition to being able to make a video of the third single on the album. On the other hand, we have dedicated ourselves, for the time in our homes, to compose, which will allow us to be already talking about the third long duration of the band, which I really want to be able to produce soon.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
