Interview with Aleksey Bagaev, owner of the Ukrainian Metal label ARX PRODUCTIONS.

Please present your label, when and where was it started, who is involved in its activities and what genres are promoted by it.
Hello! First of all, thank you for your interest in Arx Productions and your kind idea to make this interview. I can’t tell you so many interesting facts about starting of the label. It was started in 2008, if I remember correctly – in spring. Idea was born a bit earlier, when I was simple musician and drank alcohol as often as I can with my friends, - metal heads also. Hehe. But at 2008 I have met my future wife. We married and my free time and alcohol was finished. Hmm… But I loved music, and my wife loved same music too (so she supports me)… Flower of old idea has exploded. Label was born. Really all business of label is work of my hands. No one else involved in its activities. What I can tell about genres? I like Black metal, and much more atmospheric, depressive, melancholic… I like Doom Metal and old-school Doom/Death. I interests in Funeral Doom/Death. Recently I interests in Post-Black Metal and Post-Doom Metal as well. So… I support all of that genres.

Tell us a few words on each or the most important releases of your label, and which of them are still available for purchase.
Friends, all information about releases is present at my website. All releases are important! First release - because it First (Ancient Skeen - "Nobis Quoque Peccatoribus..."). Second (DOOM-ART.RU Compilation) has involved interest of more people to Arx. Third release (Ego Depths - "Equilibrium Sickness") – because it is band of my friend. Hexenmeister – very interesting post-black metal project of my good friend. It was first release, when really lots of people from different corners of Earth wanted to buy it or showed some other interest. Insaniae and A Dream of Poe are very interesting Portuguese bands, and I really can’t understand till now why any other major labels didn’t release them before me. They has given opportunity to Arx to grow up to next step of evolution. All other bands was signed in 2011 – 2012 are perfect bands with perfect albums. After releasing of Smohalla, Frailty, Harmony in Grotesque, From the Vastland I have lost any complexes. A lot of positive reviews on last releases you can find at my website also.

What are the most important features you look for in a band that is or has the chance to be signed on your label?
Hmm… Their music should be pleasant to me. And high quality of the sound gives good chances. About supported genres I have told before.

How can a band get in touch with you? What should bands know before submitting their promos for your consideration?
All my contacts (e-mails and other) are presented at website. It can be MySpace or Facebook also. What they have to know? I will not listen for music not presented in supported genres or if quality of the sound is low.

What's the most important thing in the relationship between you and your bands? What is your label offering to its bands?
Interesting question! Arx is underground label. So I can’t offer a lot, for example money etc. First important thing is desire of band to be released via Arx. Trust is second important thing. Also I don’t like when the group tries to interfere strongly with affairs of a label after CD's release. As usual I offer part of CDs to bands as fee.

Is there anything you planned with your label and has not yet been completed?
One release now in process of production. It is Post-Doom Metal band Landforge with album named "Servitude to Earth". I have in plans new album of Insaniae till end of this year also. And I can’t tell you more. No other plans.

How does the future looks for your label? Any major projects you would like to share with us?
I don’t know my future. Everything can happen. So I don’t plan a lot. But I can tell you that you will know about all my new releases if you will be interested in it first of all.

How can anyone get in touch with you? Please list your website, webstore and/or social media links.
Thanks for this promo

And good luck! See you.
