Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Botis started out as a studio-only project from the mind of guitarist Erik Levitsky who released a demo in 2014. The band expanded to a 4-piece live lineup after a dormant period. The three members who joined Erik had some years of experience playing together in the progressive power metal band Lör.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We do our best to let the music speak for itself. There are moments of black metal, thrash, and mathcore that add up to what we hope is something new. Our musical tastes are a broad spectrum, but bands like Opeth, Oathbreaker Thantifaxath, & The Dillinger Escape Plan have definitely shaped the way we compose music.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
With the flood of content we all navigate through in our daily lives, we are appreciative of anyone who takes the time to listen, whether it's a paid or a free stream. With that said, an actual purchase really helps us continue churning out music and playing shows.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We released a two-song demo in the early stages of the band, which we have since done our best to wipe from the internet... Our first full-length release Grand Abominations was released on 7/26/19. We've had an overwhelmingly positive response to the record. A positive premiere and review from Angry Metal Guy was a huge step in getting our music out to receptive new listeners.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Yes, the band plays live semi-frequently in our hometown of Philadephia. We've yet to branch out playing elsewhere, but branching out to other markets is high up on the agenda!
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
The main fact that we are proud of is our complete independence- all recording, artwork, booking, and management is handled by our band members directly. Other than that, we hope our record speaks for itself.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
I already mentioned touring plans in the near future, but we are also hard at work on our next release.
