Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
The 6th Extinction, the 6th release from GRAVEYARD (US) covers the entire Holocene extinction that is linked to human impact on the environment. The 52 minute 15 track release is a portrayal of the complete tragedy which is happening as we speak.
Here’s how it goes:
WERE YOU ATTEMPTING SUICIDE? - asks what is it we are trying to accomplish here?
EARTH’S ACUMEN - tells that whatever we do, nature will have the final say
IT IS ALL OBSCENE - highlights human action in the world over the last century and today
MONEY IS VIRUS - stating the obvious
USA IS DEAD - again, a given
DENIAL - the current psychological state of leadership in the USA, and empty headed people who are perfectly happy with the state of things (bullshit jobs, processed foods, SUV's, TV, vacations, etc.)
PANIC AND TERROR - reviews overall human reaction once food, water shortages begin
MARSHALL LAW IS NOW NATIONWIDE - the government’s response that panic
6th EXTINCTION - the current rate of extinction of species is at 100 to 1,000 times higher than natural background rates, and that extinction will also include human beings
CLIMATE SHIFT - the final driving factor in the Holocene extinction
MOLE PEOPLE - exhibits the last horrific suffering of the remaining survivors on the planet
HELL STORMS - a world is battered by astronomical objects when atmosphere is no more
IRREVERSIBLE ANNIHILATION - speaks for itself
RAPTURE OF FIRE - world ablaze
LAST EXTINCTION - with no life on the planet, there can be no more extinction
Being self produced, we answer to no one but ourselves. GRAVEYARD will never release a record unless we feel it makes the statement which we intend.

How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
GRAVEYARD plays “political death noise” - that is heavy, raw, extreme and unpredictable. Our sound is quite unsettling to many. In it, one can hear a variety of metal styles, punk, and other genres. We do not conform to a collective style or sound. The subject matter is REALITY. There are many who shy away from the subjects we present. For certain, no "record label" even dare come close. As for those people who believe metal must sound a certain “way”; they miss the whole point entirely. One can only experience GRAVEYARD by listening to it. If you can’t sit and listen for more than 1 minute because our music does not suit your "ideals", just keep on buying the generic produce of what the music industry dictates is “metal”. You make an easy sales target.

Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
GRAVEYARD started the production of The 6th Extinction in early 2019 following the release of OPUS V. Custodian Killer (guitars / bass) started playing with the idea late 2018. He also follows Guy McPherson. We were both getting sick and tired about the repression and politicizing of Climate Science, and that's why we decided to make The 6th Extinction. It was really a perfect follow-up to OPUS V which underscored the rule of plutocracy in the world, and injustice in the social order.
GRAVEYARD’s recording style has not changed since our inception in 1990, and that is; we go in to the studio knowing our subject matter, build on anger and hate, and let it all come out as music. For this release, we did that for 3 days straight at Frozen Corpse Studio. Frozen Corpse Studio is a very captivating place. There are always gadgets and archaic sound systems here which help make our sound both unique and interesting. More interesting is the fact that the album was recorded in two different guitar tunings. As a result, the album gets darker and heavier as it goes on.

What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
Artwork for 6th Extinction was done by Custodian Killer and is as schizo as the album itself. Pure imagery of hell and extinction. You will see that we mentioned global pandemic in this album; and yes, while that is the current diversion, in reality when that all eventually subsides, we will be faced with the ramifications of climate change - GRAVEYARD’s main topic for the release. This reality will not go away no matter how hard the elite try to cover it up. Their demise is certain.

What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
GRAVEYARD The 6th Extinction is an album that reflects where we are at this moment in time. We wish no gain and have no aims.

Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
We would have liked to stay with vinyl as we did with OPUS V, since it is more lasting. The 6th Extinction is available in CD format.
All orders are personalized, meaning made and sent directly from the band itself.
