Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
It all started in late 2013. when our vocalist Sanja contacted me, the drummer, to form an Arch Enemy cover band. She said she already found the guitarist and we met for drinks.  It was a coincidence that the three of us are girls, and since the situation was like that we agreed on finding two more female band members. Throughout the period 2014-2016 we were mostly doing covers of Arch Enemy, Kreator and Pantera, but after a while we started performing only our original songs. We completed the line up when our new bass player Biljana joined the band in 2018, so the current and the final line up is Sanja on vocal, Alexandra on solo guitar, Tijana on rhythm guitar, Biljana on bass and me, Selena, on drums.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We would describe our style as melodic death metal with  a bit of thrash and metalcore influence. We are mostly inspired by Arch Enemy, but also by Kreator, Carcass, In Flames and Parkway Drive.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
For the last 5 years we were really active and involved in this band. Music and merch selling is the only way we can earn even a little bit of the profit that we can invest in instruments, recording, video shooting and rehearsing, so they should by it to support our work if they like it. Also that is the reason any metalhead should buy an album of the band they like.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We released our debut album „The War Is On“ in February 2020 and people can find it on all digital streaming platforms or order a physical copy on our Facebook page. It has been released under the Grom Records label in form of the CD and under the Soul Peddler label as a vinyl. We have also released 4 musical videos available on YouTube for songs „The War Is On“, „Dead End“, „Uprising“ and „Vengeance“. Most of the audience and music reviews we got so far were positive and it seems that people like it and listen to it.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Yes! We do a lot of live shows considering that we are a starting band. We already played around 100 shows in the Balkan region and we also played on some of the major festivals there. We also had the great opportunity to open concerts for Thy Art Is Murder, Nervosa and Bullet For My Valentine.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We are an active and motivated band that comes from a small country called Serbia in South-Eastern Europe, there aren’t many people here that are playing melodic death metal, and almost no girls playing this genre. But apart from it we offer great shows filled with raw energy and we have a great sense of humor. Also our songs are catchy, groovy and brutal.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Firstly our plan is to survive the global pandemic of COVID-19 virus and than to tour as much as we can and promote our debut wherever we can. We had around 20 shows scheduled for this year but they were all postponed, so we are currently working on the new songs and trying to find our own specific style.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can find us on all digital streaming platforms by typing The War Is On – Nemesis, you can order a physical copy by writing on our page or directly to our label Grom Records.
