Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
ΩΝ (a.k.a. Omega Ni), was formed in 1998 by me, under the name Νεκροδαίμων (a.k.a. Nekrodaimon). Some members passed through our ranks, but in the end, we ended up as a one man’s project. We have released a promo in 2000, a demo in 2009 and a mini album/EP in 2013 under the name Νεκροδαίμων. In early 2015 I changed the project’s name to ΧΞΣ ( a.k.a. Chi Ksi Sigma) because I felt that I had to mark the new music era of my project, and I released a demo. From 2015 Νεκροδαίμων and ΩΝ are considered two different active projects . In fall 2015, and after a discussion I had with Sakis Tolis of Rotting Christ, about their canceled tour in South Africa due to their ''offensive name'' (offensive for some religious sects), and them using ΧΞΣ as their band name in order to be able to perform over there, I changed the project's name, for one last time, to ΩΝ. I chose ΩΝ as my project’s name because, as I mention in my album, ΩΝ, meaning “He Who Is/He Who Exists” in Ancient Greek, represents for me the absolute truth of the Human Being, an evolutionary living organism made of Stardust, the universe itself asking questions of its existence. Of course, later, christians abused this laconic and full of meaning word, degraded it and attributed its meaning to their god.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
I like to call my music BlackMetalCore or even more precisely BlackCore Metal. Do NOT be confused, ΩΝ is not some kid’s metalcore or nu metal emo band. When I say Core I mean the old school hardcore/punk genre of Black Flag, Discharge, old Life of Agony, Corrosion of Conformity, Agnostic Front, Madball, Ναυτία, Αντίδραση, Χαοτικό Τέλος, Ολέθριο Ρήγμα, Γενιά του Χάους, Panx Romana and industrial/thrashcore bands like Pantera, old Machine Head, Fear Factory, Exploited, D.R.I., S.O.D., mixed with the Black Metal of Rotting Christ, Varathron, Necromantia, Master’s Hammer, Inquisition, Bathory, Root and Blasphemy but with the song variety of Faith No More.
Also many of my influences come from bands like Sarcofago, Skyforger, SepticFlesh, Nightfall, Thou Art Lord, Beherit, Profanatica, Hellhammer, Darkthrone, Mortuary Drape, Nordor, Death, Obituary, Venom, Celtic Frost, Mortify, Horrified, Obsecration, Ancient, Sadistic Noise, Deviser, Crossover, Zemial, Agatus, Kawir, Nergal, Sodom, Whiplash, Ancient Rites, Destruction, Dark Angel, Satyricon, Emperor, Gorgortoh, Immortal, Possessed, Onslaught, old Paradise Lost, Flames and even more classic Metal bands as Accept, Holocaust, Witchfynde, Tank, Inner Wish, Diviner, Witchfinder General, Pentagram, Candlemass, and many more. Also Classic Rock, a lot of Blues and folk music.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
The debut album we just released, is a a dream come true of a Metalhead that grew up in a small village listening mainly to Metal, the vision of a dedicated Metal devotee and this album is the first manifestation of this vision. Having said that, and taking into account the curiosity someone may have on how BlackCore Metal sounds, I think this is an incentive! I should also mention all these people that participated to our latest album, people that I grew up listening to, from bands such as Rotting Christ, Necromantia, Varathron, Skyforger, Nightfall, SepticFlesh, Nordor, Crossover, Diviner, Deviser, Karma Violens, people like Sakis Tolis, the Magus, Stefan Necroabyssious, Efthimis Karadimas, Christos Antoniou, Pēteris Kvetkovskis, Petros Christoforidis, Xrhstos Doukas, Yiannis Papanikoloau, Costas Papadopoulos, Giorgos Triantafillakis, Maya Kampaki, Stella Farmaki, Chris Kikidakis, Marinos Tokas, Babis Chatzinakis, Nikos Paraschou, Jim Patlatzoglou, Fransisco Celedon, Lefteris Mantzioukas, Nikos Sakidis, Giorgos Efraimidis, Chris Zindros, and many more that is impossible to mention cause I will need a page only for the names. All these people mentioned above, actively participated either with their vocals or music instruments, but for the final result we cannot forget Astrous from RA_Design for his excellent artwork and his unending patience to design a 52 page magnificent booklet, our label Alcyone Records that believed in us and this release, and finally the most important person that made this album possible with his supreme mixing and mastering, Thanos “Ogrego” Karapanos, his contribution is so essential, that he should be considered a member of the project. I would definitely buy this album because I would assume that if those important figures of the metal scene decided to participate in it, it must be because they found it worthy of their attention.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
As Νεκροδαίμων we have released one promo tape in 2000, one demo in 2009 and a mini album/EP in 2013. As ΧΞΣ we have released only a two-track demo in 2015 (all these previous releases can be found in our blogspot and bandcamp links, some of them can be downloaded for free). As ΩΝ we have just released our debut album “Ανέγνων, Έγνων, Κατέγνων”. It includes 12 tracks of what we like to call BlackCore Metal, a 52 page booklet with extremely professional artwork, the guitars sound is as heavy as a neutron star colliding on your head, lyrics in Ancient Hellenic/Greek language from many well known (and some not so well known) ancient Greek Scientists, Philosophers and Writers, with main subject “the Roots of Atheism and Science in ancient Greek writings”. The message which I wish to convey through my lyrics is that we should not whine about how things are, but we should think about how we want things to be in the future, having in mind what was said and happened in the past.

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We have never played live as ΩΝ. I cannot say that we will never play live, but it is very difficult given the situation as it is now. Maybe in the future when things are more favorable and the right members or session members are found.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
For the same reasons I mentioned on “why a metalhead should buy our album”. I made this album not as a musician but as a metalhead, a listener. I created something that I wanted to be. I think this was missing from Metal scene, I think it is unique, it has variety and my favorite musicians as guests in every song of the album, all these under a great artwork and with excellent sound. In my opinion, the above factors make make my work interesting and worthy of attention.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Some video clips will be released soon to promote the debut album, and definitely a new album in the future. I have some songs almost ready, but the process of recording them properly, since I am a one man’s project, takes more time than normal bands. All I can say for the next album is that it’s going to be in the same style but different in other aspects.
