Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
First of all 0 is a newly formed one man project that uses only a four string bass and a throat to create sound. Few years ago I wanted to create a serious band and I also started to write songs about that band. I did not manage to find the people I needed for the band that I wanted to create, so I thought that I could give life to the songs that I had written only with my bass and my voice. That's how 0 was created. I am using the same name (0), as the project. This way it's easier for the people to understand that there is no difference between me and the project.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
I am playing down tempo experimental black metal, there are also some doom-drone elements in the music but after all, it's better if we keep the music description simple and focus at the music. The hard part at creating music with only a bass is the lack of drums. I have not found a music style which manages to create dark atmosphere without drums. There are only some bands that manage it. Some of the bands that manage it are Burzum, Sunn 0))), Ulver, Haus Arafna. What I also have to say is that I had to listen to many different music styles to be able to create sound with only a bass.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
I have only an album which people can listen at my youtube channel and they can also download it from a link at my channel, for free. In the file that can be downloaded there is also the artwork of the album, this way someone can print a physical copy of the album for himself. But why should someone listen to the project? 0 is a try to push boundaries and to create new, unheard soundscapes. I am trying to explore the limits the music has set so far, survive in them and even discover something new.
What have you released so far and how were your releases recieved by the public/media?
As I said before, I have released an album. Most of the zines I have come in touch with, have found the project interesting and I think that's the average opinion of the people who have come in touch with the project. There are people who liked it a lot and people who did not like it at all. Personally, I think it's too early for 0 to be quality classified. Even I, am not sure about the quality of the songs. The project is more like an experiment and less like a normal band-one man project.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
0 is an one man project and does not play live. The project will stay an one man project and this will not change. I may do something else too, but it will be under another name. I am not willing, at least at the moment, to play live just in order to reproduce the sound of the album live. I may do some live acts at the future with more musicians in order to listen to how the songs would be if 0 was a normal band, but that's something pretty far away from this moment.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
The act is a try to discover new soundscapes, it's an experiment, not a normal band. I don't know why especially a label/promoter should be ineterested in the project when the project itself gives its discoveries to the people for free and I do not feel comfortable with the economic side of the project. I did not create the act to gain money, I did it to create music. So I do not know why should someone be interested in the project, apart from the personal taste.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
I have ended the second album of the project and I am going to record it soon. I think that it creates the same feelings as the first album but it does it by using different tools (less distortions and channels). I would describe it as a big pure white fire.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen to my first album at my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgT3n7DkToq9K-Ion66VHvw and at my bandcamp page https://0-the-experiment.bandcamp.com/. At my youtube songs' description there are also two links from which you can download the full album plus the artwork. This is my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/0-the-experiment/191559844345029 and it is where I post any news about 0. Thanks a lot for the BQ interview and for promoting my act through your zine.
