Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
First of all thanks fort the interview. Our new release ¨Procession Through Infestation“ came out through Doomentia Records from the Czech Republic and we couldn´t be more happy with the overall response to the new album.
This album is different from our previous ones but still has the Zombiefication vibe. There is a lot of raw Death Metal to hear like in our previous releases but this time we decide to experiment more with things we had not done before and we are extremely happy with how it turned out. We somehow got tired of people pigeonholing us as a Swedish Death Metal influenced band and that led to the new sound.
How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
As I mentioned before, it has the Swedish Death Metal/Punk vibe, but this time it is different. There is some Black Metal and even some Heavy Metal mixed in. The productions is rawer. The sounds are very “Old School”, but you can now hear lots of different stuff going on that has nothing to do with that. The important thing is that in the end we sound like Zombiefication but up a notch and with more personality.
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
The new album, as well as our previous album, At The Caves Of Eternal, and the EP previous to that, Reaper´s Consecration, were recorded at Revolution Studios by Jesús Bravo from Mexico´s Agony Lords. Then they all were mixed and mastered by our good friend Tore Stjerna at Sweden´s Necromorbus Studios. So you can say we are very satisfied with the work of both studios since this is the 3rd time we work that way.
More than interested stories about the recording, I can tell you that every new album is easier for us to record and bring to life. We are more balanced in what we want and were we are heading as time passes by.
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
This is Mr. Hitch´s department, so I will let him explain to you all the concept. He also painted all the art as it has become a tradition.
The cover art represents the “Ghede”, a family formed by spirits that bring to life the power of death and fertility in the voodoo religion. They are also known as entities that cause spiritual, mental or physical death of a third party. The “Ghede” have always existed in every field, time and culture but with different names. They and the Zombiefication process are not only part of voodoo practices and religious beliefs but also include fetish, snake cult, ritual sacrifices and trance as mediums to communicate with all kinds of deities, be them from a monotheistic or polytheistic point of view. Today the “Ghede´s” are found in the excesses of life. We are all doomed.
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
Nothing really other than expressing ourselves. We write and record music because we love it! If people like it cool, if not and as long as we are satisfied with it, that is more than enough!
What I can tell you though is that with this release we toured Europe for the 2nd time and we had a blast as well as great response from the people which always helps. We played Killtown Deathfest, the final edition, NRW Deathfest and 9 countries in 21 days with 16 shows so we can´t really complain. Things are great in the Zombiefication camp.
Right now we are taking a break from touring and the next thing to do is play in Tamaulipas, Mexico in 2 months. Then we will start demoing new material if everything goes right.
Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
“Procession Through Infestation” was released in LP and CD formats. So far 500 limited edition digipack copies were printed and it is already sold out. About LP´s I can´t really tell you much, besides the fact that I think the clear vinyl Limited Edition is already sold out. LPs were also printed in 500 copies.
Where and how will you promote this new release?
Doomentia Records is the one in charge of all the promotion and they are doing great so far. We have done some interviews, lots of reviews and this together with the tour has helped the band a lot.
Where can we order it from?
You can order it from Doomentia Records and any underground Metal distro. At the same time it is available in most big record stores so there shouldn´t be a problem getting yourself a copy. Again thanks a lot for the interview and greetings from this side of the cemetery!
