Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
Sure, new release is an 11 song instrumental metal LP titled 'Cognitive Dissonance'.
We tried our best to pack an album full of hooks, melodies, grooves, off times and whatever else we could throw at it.
Very happy with the final release and the response we've been getting.
How would you describe/label the music on it? Does it sounds like anything we might have heard before?
We kinda like to describe the music as instrumental metal for people who don't listen to instrumental music. We don't usually write in a linear fashion. We more or less have the mind set that an instrument will fill the role of a singer, so why not have parts of songs revisited.
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it? Any interesting stories from the recording/producing the material?
Drums were recorded and edited by Derren Carter at 8Arms Studio in Winter Park, FL., I recorded the guitars, bass, and keys and mixed the album, and the album was mastered by the legendary Sanford Parker.
I'd say an average of 3 days or so per instrument. We do a pre-production album before we record the real thing, so we're not wasting any time, or money.
Hmm it was pretty interesting when we recorded the drums and a Latino church service with a full band was going on next door. The service lasted well over two hours and we had to break several times since the sound was bleeding into the recording. They were really going for it that day.
What can you tell us about the cover artwork?
The album cover was a picture I took in Carlsbad, NM when I was moving back home from Seattle, WA. I used a ton of filters and added our logo to it. To me it signifies the long road home, and new beginnings.
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
We were just trying to put our music in front of as many people as we could. We're now getting streams, and new fans from all over the world which is pretty cool.
Right now we're just waiting for the covid bullshit to be over so we can get on with our lives and promote our new album. We currently have four unrecorded new songs, and write new material whenever we can.
Is there a special format the material is released in? Or is it released in multiple formats? How many copies were pressed?
Right now we've just released the album digitally. Since we're doing everything all on our own we can't feasibly see investing thousands of dollars on vinyl whilst we have no shows to sell them at. When things pick up again we will strongly be considering vinyl, and maybe vinyl for the first album as well.
Where and how will you promote this new release?
With the help of our buddy Curtis Dewar of Dewar PR we've gained a lot of traction via interviews, podcasts, and reviews of the album. Curtis helped us out a lot and we highly recommend!
