Review:
After 2 full-length albums released in 2013 and 2016, Spanish quartet Oniricous mark the third year distance with a 4 tracks (+ intro and outro) EP. The band delivers an old-school type of Death Metal based on mid-tempo to fast paced rhythms, catchy, well-thought guitar riffs, long and spacey guitar solos, occasional atmospheric leads, organic sounding drums and subtle but oppressive bass lines, and last but not least a vicious, throat-scratching vocal singing in native language which might be a good selling-point for the Spanish-speaking audience. The production is clear and dark enough to emphasize the sinister atmosphere the band creates through their music at the same time allowing them to display their tight take on composition where nothing seems to be out of place. Fans of old-school Death Metal should check out this band as they might get a good surprise.
