Review:
4 years after the release of Uprising's excellent debut album, here's the new studio material, a 7 tracks (actually 6 with an intro) full-length clocking a bit over 40 minutes of playing time. To top a stunning album like "Uprising" was a big target, and I'm sure that's why Winterherz took his time and didn't rush things for the new release, and that paid off oh so much. II is fantastic from start to finish, with different tracks that can all be real Black Metal hits for the different categories of listeners, from epic, Bathory-esque Black Metal to straight Black Death Metal to some melodic Black Metal with acoustic guitar inserts like in the beginning of the '00's. From my point of view the first two tracks are no less than masterpieces of the genre, catchy from start to finish and totally memorable. The rest are equally good, don't get me wrong, but the first two stand out by their catchiness. Clever song writing, mesmerizing melodies, plenty of sharp, raspy and ferocious vocals supported by clean male single or choir vocals, savage rhythms section and a guitar work that's out of this world offering everything in between melodic and aggressive riffing, leads and solos, totally awesome. In my book this is one of the best 2020 Black Metal albums, so obviously I have to recommend it to you, too.
