Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Mist of history covers the early trails of Kalmo’s path. After finding a true name in Kalmo, ominous visions of the inescapable doom have been falling into place in the darkness. This one-man doom metal project has been more active over the past two years, producing new material and releasing music videos.
There is only one mind, one lost soul in the core of Kalmo. The axes of doom guitars and bass are played and the dark cries are bawled by this man. The beat of doom is conjured up with the black magic of stateof-the-art, technical drumslade witchery.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Some of the artists and bands that inspire Kalmo are Celtic Frost, Triptykon, Slayer, King Diamond, Candlemass, Black Sabbath, Gallhammer, Hellhammer, Vorum, Master. The true seed of Kalmo was laid somewhere in the mid-80s. Celtic Frost’s Circle of Tyrants ignited the fire. Now, after some 35 years, the flames are so high that they scorch the heights of heaven.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Kalmo is raw, dark, brutal and experimental doom metal. Music is done with true blackened heart. It opens gates to hidden emotions of metal lady or lad. It is one of a kind. It is DYI and unique.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Kalmo has summoned earlier songs more or less as demos and also a fistful of music videos. Now Kalmo has released debut EP Demoni. It summarizes and concludes an episode in Kalmo’s story. Some of the EP’s songs are from very early years and some have been written within the past two years.
The metalhead community has found the true inner demons and appreciated the depth and coarseness of the music and the visuality of the music videos.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
As being one man’s mayhem, playing live may be unworkable. However, you never know what will arise from the mist of dark dungeons in the future.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
What Kalmo does is not for the masses. It is for the people interested in things in shadows, things people who go with the standard flow never think and shun. In case you want to stand in the darkness and stand out from the gray mass, you are into what Kalmo does.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
With debut EP release “Demoni”, as a demonic rite of passage, Kalmo is ready for more. New dark verses are being written. New evil psalms are being silently chanted in the darkness. The sinews of the sinister are gaining power. The doom will be inevitable. The forms are to be casted. Longer term visions are composing something to be made in vinyl.

The EP is available as a digital edition and a CD release. Kalmo makes its doom in Finnish: for those doomed ones not so familiar with this brutal language, the CD version contains a booklet with lyrics in both Finnish and English.
