Review:
Russian Grai from Tatarstan has been one of the best Russian pagan / folk metal formations for a good few years. They played in Poland many times and it did not surprise me that "Ashes" is a thoroughly outstanding album. The climate that Ruzveld and his team managed to get on this album is the quintessence of the Russian folk-metal! There is a very solid dose of eastern melodiousness, emphasized by beautiful female vocals and a large portion of folk sounds woven into technical metal. There is also what the metal mess from behind the Bug has already got us used to: power, wildness and anger enchanted in growls and guitar riffs. And this is how the album "Ashes" is published (Russian edition is titled "Pêle"). Nothing more, nothing less, over 50 minutes of East Slavic power!
