Please tell us a few words about the new release, about the music on it as a whole or a few words on each track in part. How are you happy with the final release?
It's our first self-produced album. We seek to recreate what we do in our rehearsals in Paris. So we recorded in the same studio where we played for a year now, without guitar overdub and without artifice. The overall sound on this demo is very raw and blurry and that's how we see our compositions because the general atmosphere is an integral part of these pieces because it gives another dimension to the melodic links. Each piece has a different intention, reflected in the words and the tonalities but the overall sound is the same to create unity throughout the album. By not recording in a studio, we wanted to recreate the atmosphere of our daily rehearsals, I think we have achieved it.
How would you describe/label the music on it?
When the demo came out, the first term that has been coined to us was "Raw Cascadian black métal"!! We did not think about it. We just wanted to play black metal based on feelings and emotions.
Where was it recorded and how much time did it take you to record it?
We recorded in the same studio in paris where we rehearsed for a year, it's not really a studio for recording so we had to do with our own gear but that was kinda wanted, we did not want to go in a professional studio. We recorded everything live to be closest to how we usually sound, so one day for recording and a few days for a short mixing.
What can you tell us about the cover artwork? Is there a link between the artwork and the lyrics? What are the topics of your lyrics?
The cover is a picture of jupiter. Astronomy is a recurring theme in our work.. We feel a strong connection between space's abyssal landscapes and the way we sound. There is a lot of work on the texts. They are written so that even detached from the music, they are balanced and has a true sense. Some are written in rhyme, as a a poem, some are written in prose. Although for the moment the lyrics are not in the booklet or accessible, know that we want each text to be seen more like words said on music more than just lyrics. For the tracks of this demo, DELUGE is about changing role, depending on the situation between two people in the current society and A LA CROISEE DES AMES deals with the influence of society on the way we think but another track is talking about transformation of the sun. It is each time different subjects, we are just not an esoteric or mystique band, so the lyrics deal with real things and not metaphysical stuff.
What do you expect to gain through this release? What are the band's aims at the moment?
We have no fixed goal. We just seek to expose our vision of black metal.
Is there a special format the material is released in?
At the moment the demo is released on tape , the black version is limited to 10 tapes and white version to 40 and will soon be printed on CD. If there is demand we may release a vinyl limited edition.
Where and how will you promote this new release?
We'll let things happen, we first seek to express ourselves musically and we are focusing on.
