Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Lilith Laying Down was founded in 2008. At that time I was new in cologne and I didn´t know any musicians so far. Then one day I saw Lars in a rock bar and asked him if he was a musician (because of his long hair;-). That really was a stroke of luck because Lars is so deep into the cologne music/metal scene as anyone could be.
However we soon started jamming and wrote the first parts of songs like "Chosen Ones" or "Time to change". Additionally we searched for other musicians to join our band. We had some auditions to find a suitable guitar player and we really got to know some strange guys. It is really unbelieveable how many guys think they are able to overtake the task of a lead guitar player and then play worse the guitar than Lars (and he is not even a guitar player but a bass player). It took us some time until we met Ralf Langer who became our first lead guitarist. He is a nice guy but he could not keep step with our progress and so we decided to quit the cooperation. The next lead guitarist was Daniel LaChina, a fucking awesome guitar player! With this guy we recorded our LP "Nether Regions" and the result speaks for itself. But Daniel is also playing in some other bands and he had to make a decision. You can´t give 100% in several bands. Unfortunately he decided to quit our band and to focus on one of his other projects. Sad but true. But now we found a suitable surrogate for him in David. He is young, hungry and a very talented guitar player. I think he is the right person for this job.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
On our album "Nether Regions" our style is mixture of different elements like thrash, dark, gothic and doom metal. We are often compared to Metallica, Opeth, Crowbar or even Faith No More. And in deed each of these bands had some influence on me and on all the other members. In future we will focus more on thrash metal because this is something that every band member likes the most. But we will always have some single parts in some songs that go in a different direction. Why? Because we are able to do it.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Today it is difficult to find an album that is not equal to hundreds of other ones. The music market is overfilled with similar sounding bands.
And if you find a band that you like you often get disappointed because one song on the album sounds like every other one. I think we really achieved the goal of creating an album where you can not be sure what comes next. You will always be surprised and you won´t get bored because of similar sounding songs. But every song for itself is heavy and definitely a metal song. You will like it.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Until now we have released an EP called "What lies beneath" including four songs and our full length album "Nether Regions" including 11 songs.
We recieved rave reviews for both of them. Our LP "Nether Regions" even got two reviews in the magazine Metal Hammer.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Of course we play live. That´s what the whole thing is about. We make songs and we want the entire world listen to it. Our next shows are on february the 23 rd in a location called Valhalla in Gummersbach and on march 8th in Bonn in a bar named "Bar Ludwig". There we will have our realease party for "Nether Regions" as the album will be officially released through our label Bret Hard Records and SAOL that day.
What sould labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Do you know the movie "Rocky 3"? The eye of the tiger. Great movie and exactly what you all should know about Lilith Laying Down. We are hungry for spreading our music over the planet. And we are willing to do what it takes to achieve that goal. We work hard on our stuff and if there is someone out there who is able to help us - do it. You won´t get disappointed.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We work on new songs of course. We have so many good ideas that are waiting to be arranged and finished to some ass kicking songs. We will continiously work on ourselves to get better. And if it works, we will have some gigs with already established bands in 2013... can't betray more at this point..;-)
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
