Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Ontborg are coming from the north of Italy. After 20 years and with the split-up of "Voices Of Decay", the three former members Lukas, Florian (Graveworm) and Christoph founded Ontborg in 2017. Harry (Ex-Graveworm , 1997-2011) completes the line up as bassist.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We all have the same musical background, growing up with the sound like Benediction, Dismember, Entombed and Dissection; with this band we remember our metallic roots, creating our own sound, a mix between swedish death metal and some black metal feelings.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
If a metalhead likes to dive into the feeling of albums from the end of the nineties, our debut album is the right choice! We tried to not overproduce the album, with a natural sound and a certain rawness. If you like the HM2 guitar sound and a great old school painted cover, you are right with us as well!
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
“Within The Depths Of Oblivion” is our debut album, so we are already very curious about the first reviews! We have released a first video from the title track of the album, which you can watch on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK_9WaaIWps).
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
On the release date of the album on may, 24th, we are playing our first show with this band. We are also confirmed for the “Rock im Ring Festival” (https://www.rockimring.it) in the north of Italy, other shows will follow for sure, but nothing confirmed until yet.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Ontborg is a new band, but the individual band members are more then 20 years involved in different bands. We know the business, have all experience to play live and we are really motivated to get started with this band.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We want to play live as much as possible, promote the album and than we will see what happens next.
