Frigoris was founded in Essen, Germany, as a Pagan/Black Metal Band in 2007. After our first demo tape and a few gigs we developed further both musical as well as humanly and with growing demand of professionalism, interpersonal differences appeared. So three of the four founding members had to leave Frigoris in 2009. It was not till 2011 and one album later until a new stable line-up was found that was capable of realizing the new concept. Today we play Melodic Black Metal and have begun playing shows throughout Germany and the near foreign countries. 

It is always difficult for us to describe our style. Especially on our new album Wind, many different influences converge. The atmosphere is inspired by Black Metal but on the musical level we use a lot of elements which are more likely for Doom Metal or Post Rock. We melt it all down in our description as Melodic Black Metal.

The influence of other bands in our music is more on an atmospheric level. They inspire and incite us to reach a greater and more intense sound than before. To name a few: Agalloch, Der Weg einer Freiheit, Nagelfar, This Will Destroy You.

You should buy our album because we expand the borders of Black Metal in a unique style towards a lot of other genres which gave us the possibility to create music that is melancholic and rousing at the same time. It is pure atmosphere.

We already released a demo tape "Morgenröte” and one full length album "Nach dem Krieg…” on our own and these days our second album "Wind”has just been released by Hypnotic Dirge Records and Misanthropic Art Productions. 

Along with our growing wish to make sophisticated music, the public reception got better and better with every record we released. Morgenröte was more or less our first experience in making music and so the reception was not so good. With Nach dem Krieg… we started finding our own style and tried to make more serious music and so we already got some very good reviews and public interest grew with our rising live activity. Wind, so far has been received extremely well. The reviews we got so far are awesome and we get a lot of positive feedback from our fans. 

We try to play as much as we can and when the opportunity arises to come around as far as possible. In the last two years we started to play throughout Germany, the nearby countries and at festivals. This year our live activity will rise to around 20 shows and we hope this will go on in the future. Although we already have had some chances to play small tours somehow we didn’t managed to realize this until now but this is definitely planned.

We make music with all the passion that we have and try to make every album and every concert a unique experience for the listener as well as for ourselves. Due to that we make music abroad of all conventions and bring that also to the stage.

I think the next bigger plan for our near future will be a small tour maybe in early 2014 if nothing else arises before. We are also working on our next album and the plan is to have a rough version at the end of the year.
