Review:
After 5 years of activity Swedish Arkaid offer their debut full-length album, a 35 minutes effort made of 9 tracks, but after listening to it in full I have the feeling it was composed during all these years as the tracks are so different one from another you won't believe it. Just imagine Viking Metal (or Humpaa Metal) tracks on the same album with Groove Metal tracks, on the same album with Symphonic Dark Metal tracks, on the same album with a Tom Jones' Sex Bomb cover version... How open-minded one must be to appreciate it all? The production is pretty solid, the execution as well, and the band sounds curdled enough to reach for the next step, but I think mixing all these different genres in a sole release only gives the impression that they don't really know what they want and the band could take absolutely any direction on a future release, which is not a comfortable position for potential fans I'd say. Anyway, all in all it's a debut album, being these guys serious or not, I guess there's more substance and potential in them, they just need to decide where they are headed.
