Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Burgûli is a one member band of Black Metal born in 2011, in Barcelona (Spain) by Lord Gorthaur. After trying different sounds in 2013 were recorded two demos, called Demo I and Demo II just gifted to close friends.
In 2014 a third demo called “The Pathway Is More Clear In Darkness” was recorded, and launch through “Depressive Illusions Records”.
Once again, a new demo was recognized in 2015 named “Ombres”. Which had two editions, one short, just gifted to close friends, and other one longer, sold.
It is in 2019 when last album called “Ombres” was reissued based on last “Ombres” demo.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
I focus on play an atmospheric old-school Black Metal but giving my own touch. My influences are lot of bands. From old-school Norwegian bands to French ones of Legions Noires. But I try to not be more influenced by anyone and do a personal way. There are always influences of the bands you listen, but I try to do a personal work, above all.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Because I think I have something new and old at the same time to offer. Burgûli is a project of present, but with a view in old times, when the sound was purer. A project full of darkness to spread and cover hearts and souls.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
I have just some demos that were viewed by lot of different points of view. Some people like, some people didn’t like at all. But most of them said it was a very personal project. Recently I launch and album called Ombres, based on last demo called same name, that is receiving some good reviews.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
No, I don’t play live and I don’t think I will never do. Burgûli wasn’t conceived to play live, and I think if I’d do, it will lost some of its essence.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
They should know and be interested because Burgûli is a young band that has lot to offer. It’s a solo project, where every step is done just by one person, with great effort. Burgûli is recorded and produced by Lord Gorthaur, and have a lot to offer in the future. Burgûli will enlarge its hand and expand its darkness over the world.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Keep playing, keep composing and trying new sounds. There is another album almost finished entirely played on keyboard, and more themes for future albums where there is the idea of introduce some traditional Iberian instruments.
