Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Hi there! Black Sites was formed in early 2016, and released our debut album soon after. We've had some changes in the lineup since then, but the current band is:
Mark Sugar – guitar, vocals
Ryan Bruchert - guitar
Garry Naples - drums
José Salazar - bass
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We are a good meeting point between progressive and old-school metal, I think. Our influences are many, but I'd say the big ones are Black Sabbath, Voivod, Queensryche, Thin Lizzy, and bands of that nature.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
I wouldn't dare tell metalheads what to do. However,, I'd imagine our music has some appeal and something to offer most fans of heavy music.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Our debut album "In Monochrome" was released in February 2017, and was given a pretty warm reception from what I recall. Our new album "Exile" comes out April 19, 2019. We only have one track that the public has heard from it, but so far, people seem to dig it.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We do play live, at least more than we used to. Our "comeback" show was last December, opening for King's X. We have our record release gig coming up in April, followed by a few other things that we're still working out the details of.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
The only thing I can say is that there is no one else that sounds like Black Sites right now.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
There are definitely some live shows on the horizon. Other than that, we'll see if "Exile" opens up some new doors for us. Oh, and I'm already writing songs for the album after this.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
I'm sure glad you asked! We're at https://www.facebook.com/blacksites , and the new record is at https://blacksites.bandcamp.com/album/exile. Our first record is already on the usual outlets such as Spotify, iTunes, Amazon etc.
