Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
In the year 2006 the Ga(s)thof brothers Matthias(g) and Sebastian(d) decided to create their own music-project named "VAULTING". Looking for persons for the missing bandpositions, they contacted Philipp(b), Julien(g) and Felix(v) who were playing together in the band "Nice rabbits always make cake". Soon later these three people joined "VAULTING" and the first songs were written together. This musical periode was recorded as the 07 Demo. Unfortunately Juliens medicine studies prevented a further participation, so he was replaced by Martin who was known from gigs with his band "VKR". 2008 the band recorded its EP "Epilog" at the CKB studios in Essen, Germany. Later that year Philipp left the town and band to study aeronautics in Aachen. 2009 when "VAULTING" entered the well-known Rape-of-harmonies studio to record the "Modus humanis"EP, Phil returned for the recording-session. "VAULTING" plays gigs in Germany and by now they write songs for a future record.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
"VAULTING" is a Techgrindband influenced by a lot of great bands. The major influences are for sure the Relapse bands, to list some: "Misery Index", "Nasum", "The Dillinger Escape Plan", "Pig Destroyer" but most of all "Cephalic Carnage" as you can hear.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Without wanting to be cocky they include great songs. "Epilog" isn't that mature as "Modus humanis" is, but it shows the band roots. And the quality of "Modus humanis" has not to hide, it's well done. On the other side each sold record helps to afford the next release.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
The EP's "Epilog" and "Modus humanis". While "Epilog" suffered starting problems, "Modus humanis" gets a great feedback both by fans/musicians and media.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We've played like 30 shows, always looking for the possibility to unleash our fury. Since we play on stage without a bass, our live qualities increased so you can hear the fine and fast riffings much more better. And don't worry we're still heavy enough to not look like wimps.
What sould labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
"VAULTING" is more than just a band. It's a fitting hybrid of art(work), conceptional lyrics with a political attitude(both german and english) and a forward grinding music profile on a high technical level. The songs have each their individual soul, so nothings sounds to similar. From the less-than-one-minute-grinder to the technical-riff-composition with playful guitars and diversified drums, everything is possible as long as we love it.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We write music and lyrics for a further record. The new material overtops the actual EP by miles, so why not record it, maybe next summer. Also we want to play more gigs, maybe a festival, maybe a little tour out of Germany.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
