Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Davis:
We only started working on music in June of this year. I sent Michael a drum midi I had built a year and a half ago to see if he could come up with anything for it. I thought the riffs he wrote for it were awesome, so we kicked into full gear and made an EP. It’s all new and it’s all happening very fast - thrilling!
We’re both veterans of the local metal scene here in Edmonton. I’ve done vocals for With Malice and Kryosphere - and we’re both currently in a death metal band called Sallow Regent.
Michael’s also played in Bleed, Butcher’d, Necrobiosis, and Dead Jesus.
Michael: The project came together back in June. Davis had sent me a drum track to play around with and see if I could come up with a guitar structure for the song. It took me about a week of trying to figure out guitar riffs that fit the crazy drum pattern, but once it came together it flows really well.

How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Davis:
Black metal/grindcore hybrid. For this material, I’ve been influenced by Anaal Nathrakh, Mayhem, Napalm Death, Darkthrone, Rotten Sound, Celtic Frost, Extreme Noise Terror, Aura Noir, Primordial, Repulsion, Fukpig, Anal Cunt, Strapping Young Lad, Shining, and many more…
Michael: The style floats around grind, death and black metal. Mortician, Exhumed, Suffocation, and Napalm Death are the styles that I write for this project.

Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Davis:
If you love buzzsaw guitars, ridiculous tempos, occult symbolism, and tons of blasts then this is for you. And of course, we should all still buy our music if we’re going to call ourselves metal fans. I’ve got a major CD addiction myself.
Michael: Blast beats, heavy guitars, screeching vocals, any metalhead will appreciate the wide variety of styles in this ep. you want this album.

What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
Davis:
We’ve released some teasers and such, and have gotten lots of positive feedback. Let’s see what happens when all the cards are on the table!

Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Davis:
We probably will not ever play live. Personally, this kind of studio project has hit the mark for me. It’s the kind of thing I wanted for a long time - somehow it’s just suddenly materialized. We will be able to release more material without having to worry about gigs as well.
Michael: This will likely remain a studio project. To be able to play live shows with this project would have a lot of considerations to do it justice. The backing tracks and all that would be a challenge for us. Whether or not to have live musicians or just us two would be another question… we're fine with the studio only.

What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
Davis:
It’s an interesting project because we can push some limits. There are not many black metal/grindcore hybrids out there, relatively speaking. I was blown away by the riffs that Michael came up with for this. Lots of unexplored territories that we plan on discovering, lots of limits to push. At any rate, they’ll have to keep an eye on us, I’ve already started building drum tracks for the next recordings. We’re only going to try and make every bit of material we put out more thrilling than the last.

What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Davis:
Right now the focus is mostly on this release cycle, when the EP comes out on August 16 then things will slow down a little more again. BUT, We are already working on a follow-up recording. It’s a complete mystery what it’s going to be like exactly, but expect faster drums and even grindier riffs. As for length, it will most likely be 30-40 minutes. We may include instrumental versions again.
Michael: The future of this band is to continue cranking out new music to keep everyone hooked.
