Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
For me (Michael Bala) the band started back at Berklee. I was jealous of my friends that had steady gigs so I tried to put a band together. It didn’t work out, but it did inspire me to start writing songs. I stayed in Boston a year after I graduated and continued to practice/write. After that I slowly transitioned to LA where I currently live. I met the other guitarist Hunter through his job at Guitar Center, and he knew a drummer we jammed with. That drummer knew our singer, David, and we all started to make music together. I had a wealth of songs left over from Boston, and largely that’s what you hear on our debut EP Altars of Sacrifice.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
My vision for this band is to eventually turn it into Racer X, but if they were a death metal band. Actively, I’d say some of our main influences are Black Dahlia Murder, Arsis, Decrepit Birth, Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Obscura, Spawn of Possession, Revocation, Racer X, and Death. I’d love to start incorporating some more “classic” style heavy metal as well, like Mercyful Fate and Iron Maiden.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Our music, as it stands now, is very much a love letter to all things metal and horror. It’s also a very “guitar player” based record. We’ve got influences that range from technical to melodic and everything in between; there’s something here for all flavors of metalhead.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
So far we’ve released one EP called Altars of Sacrifice. The EP came out July 24th so it’s still very fresh, and the response has been great so far! I’m honestly really shocked at how many kind messages I’ve received from friends and fans; it’s a really heartwarming experience.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We haven’t had a chance to play live yet due to losing our drummer and the effects of Covid-19. That being said, our philosophy is to never record anything we can’t pull off live.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We’ve been working with AsherMedia and it’s been great so far. As for labels, we’re always open to talking with anyone about possible deals.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
As a band, we’re planning on going into the studio in the near future to record our second release. We have a plethora of songs ready to go and it’s getting on time to track them.
