Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Feign is a project started solely by me, Jacob Lizotte. I am the only member for now!
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
I would describe the style as being black metal, but with the more dark and depressive vibes of the genre being replaced with something more melodic and emotional. It's an effort to retain the strong atmospheric qualities of black metal while bringing in influence from other genres such as melodic death metal and doom metal. I would also describe the style as a bit confused and not completely developed yet, which is fine. I plan to create something that represents my efforts on Lost To Eternity much more accurately on the full-length release.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Everything is free right now for Feign. But I know that in the future physical copies will most likely be available. I think that any metalhead into melodic, angry and emotion evoking metal would enjoy Feign.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
So far I have only released the Lost To Eternity demo. It has been received very well, no negative comments. Everything has been positive, and it inspires me to start working on a kickass debut album!
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
I don't play live as Feign, the only reason why is because I am a one man band right now!
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
It's something different in the american black metal scene, it's similar to other bands in the scene but with a different sound emotionally. The influence is coming from older bands like Dark Tranquillity or In Flames, as opposed to shoegaze or something else. It resonates differently with your average metalhead.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Releasing the debut album! I have been toying around with tons of riffs and ideas, starting over and finishing entire songs. It's quite the process. It should be out in the next month or two!
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Bandcamp, I will put the link right here: http://feign1.bandcamp.com/releases
You can also buy it off of there, or download it for free.
