Review:
Apatheia are a new trio from Mielec, a little city East of Krakow. Not sure about their ages, but hopefully they are passed their teens (having their faces painted doesn't help), otherwise the band will probably broke up after they'll start looking for better opportunities and education is bigger cities; yet having Krakow so close is a plus in this case. This debut is made of 8 long tracks clocking a whooping 51 minutes of playing time, and as in many other Polish Black Metal bands' cases, has lyrics solely in their native tongue, so foreigners can only guess what the topics are, although Google Translate can also be a good friend in this case. The music on this debut album is mostly fast paced obscure Black Metal with a profound sinister atmosphere surrounding it, but I think with serious lacks on variety which combined with the unusual high length of the tracks may result in the listeners loosing their interest fast. They are good at creating this image of a dark, oppressive, impenetrable wall of obscurity through their music, and from my point of view that's the band's strength at this moment in time, but I also feel there's a lot of room for improvement for the future, and they seem capable for doing it (improving their compositions I mean), too, so only time will tell.
