Review:
Formed in 2013, Ekaterinburg based trio Cyanide Grenade have reached their second full-length album with this Kind of Virus, an album that bears the perfect title for the pandemic year 2020 was, and I guess that's exactly the reason it's called like that. Anyway, we're treated here with 10 tracks within 45 minutes of playing time; an old-school, '80's type of Thrash Metal mostly fast paced but with plenty of mid-tempo passages that make things catchier, more diversified and more accessible to a wider audience. I'd say the band did a really good job, I have enjoyed the album 4 or 5 times already and I wouldn't say no to some new spins, so that's a win in my books. The band reminds me of old Metallica, but with a rougher type of vocals, raucous type of vocals that are not necessarily abrasive to the ears, but rather add an old-school Death Metal type of feeling to the otherwise 100% traditional Thrash Metal compositions. I would have absolutely loved more of that melodic acoustic guitar touch backed up by guitar leads like the title-track has, short and concise but very to the point and very impactful, just listen I'd say they have it all except originality, they compensate with enthusiasm and a fanatic tribute to the '80's Thrash Metal.
