Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
We, Winter Nights are a melodic death metal band emanating from Brooklyn, New York. We started in the Winter of 2007. The sound and lyrical themes of our music portray loss, pain, grievance, and darkness. We strive to be an integral part of the thriving New York metal scene.
As of 2020, our line-up consists of dueling guitar brothers Jeremy and Efrain Farfan, bassist Martin Tune and drummer James Yarusinsky.
Jeremy and Efrain have been yielding their axes for almost two decades.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our style is darkened, despair-ridden, progressive, genuine & steady
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
For fans that enjoy bands such as Iced Earth and Behemoth, they should prepare for quite a melodic death metal journey.
We have something to offer every metalhead of all genres.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We have a full-length demo from 2008 which shows the first era of the band. It showcases a bumpy road through trials and tribulations of becoming a band. Our friends and family were proud of us for making something out of all the time spent on music throughout the years.
In 2010 we released a short 2 song Ep, "From Darkness till' Dawn". It was a turning point for the band. It shows the direction we decided to take and in which also guided us for our next release. This was sort of the first-time people gave us recognition, so to speak. It opened the door for future fans and the next era of things to come.
"An Endless Apocalypse” followed in 2014. This was our proud moment of a first full-length release. Everything came into place as the shows were packing in and the crowd response, as well as media response, was amazing. It told of a journey through hell, a walk through a melodic saga.
Now with our new release set for July 31st. It will be self-titled and shows our progression not only as a band but as musicians as well. It features two drummers, Andrew Lobosco & Manolo Estrada. They each have 3 songs each on the album. The variation blends seamlessly. So far, we’ve released two singles that have provided a great response from fans both old and new.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
Yes. Since 2008 we haven't stopped. Through several drummers & a couple of bass players. A dozen studio moves, a few studio floods, and over 100 shows later. We love playing live. There's a special feeling to be able to showcase your music in front of a crowd big or small. We highly anticipate our next show in the hopeful near future.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We strive to make a sound of our own. Each album we create, we do our best to offer something different in terms of feel, character, theme & sound.
We are a band that creates from passion. Our ideas and music tell of our evolution. As musicians, we just want to be better than our former selves. Follow us and will surprise you each step of our musical journey.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We are already setting dates to track our next album which will be an Ep. It will consist of 4 songs. It will be our first album with James, our current drummer who came in the band in 2019. We want to get out on the road again and spread our music with as many people as possible.
