Review:
Didn't know what to expect from this highly colored looking Digipak CD, Mastemey sounds familiar as a band name, but this is probably my first encounter with their music. After a self-titled debut album released in 2016, the band formed a decade ago in Cracow is back with the followup effort, a material featuring 8 tracks in 40 minutes of playing time. All songs are in Polish, although I think this music style (a combination of Thrash and Groove Metal) works better with English lyrics and has more chances to appeal to foreigners, too, so if you're not a Polish speaking metalhead you'll have to rely simply on the impression the actual music makes on you. We're treated with an array of guitar riffs combined with a groovy rhythm section and screaming vocals building an atmosphere that swings between Thrash and Hardcore, heavy and energetic, adrenaline pumping at times, angry and almost negative at others, with occasional hints at Post Metal, too, so it's quite far from old-school patterns. It didn't have a big impact on me, most probably because I wasn't able to relate with the lyrics, too; it's a fine album, fans of the genre will probably enjoy it better, but this is more designed for the Polish speaking audience. Released in good looking Digipak CD version with 12 pages booklet featuring, you guessed it, all lyrics.
