Review:
For a band that started as a Nu-Metal ensemble back in 2013 I'd say they've come a long way in increasing the violence and brutality of their compositions. On this new material, their debut full-length album, Slapdown present themselves as Thrash Death Metal with serious Brutal Death and even Grindcore influences, so we're treated with the angriest of metal straight from the beginning of it, and from my point of view the best side of this album is its variety, it's mostly fast and absolutely devastating, but it also brings in a ton of groovy elements, plenty of rhythm changes and a massive dose of energy from start to finish, just listen to the track Raging Cumshot (that's also a single promoted as lyric video), that's probably the best and most representative for what Slapdown is about, and you'll get the feel for what's happening on Fundamentally Wicked; 13 tracks in 38 minutes, one of the heaviest albums I've heard coming out of France lately. The band displays some killer technical abilities in both the composition and execution levels, and the overall impression after playing this debut album is the band is capable of reaching serious heights in their genre. Definitely check out this album if you're into violent Thrash Death Grind!
