Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Tunguska was born in 2019, we are very much created from the ashes of a multitude of bands and life experiences. I had been in a band with Marek our guitarist and composer way back in 2014 and we immediately clicked with a love of the same bands and genres, so stayed in touch.
Time passed and bands we were in came and went so we finally decided to do exactly what we wanted and formed Tunguska. I began to sing over a few tracks he had written on Soundcloud and the it started to take shape. We inevitably began looking for potential members. Don Merritt joined last year on Bass and we have a new drummer joining once lock down is lifted.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We have a sound rooted in heavy post metal, Math and the sludge metal genres so we as a band categorize ours as “Organically charged and mechanically emotive”. We are mostly Inspired by Herod, Cult Of Luna, Neurosis and Meshuggah.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
People with a passion for powerful emotional metal played from the heart and soul will enjoy our songs. We write the music that we would like to hear. Tunguska has an aggressively mature sound so anyone with a taste for anything I've described will enjoy us.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
So far Tunguska have released our self titled EP in December 2019 with a video for our first single “Stillborn Servant” and a new single “Untethered Guillotine” in March 2020 along with its accompanying video.
Generally we have received a very positive response from all that have heard us. Bands and magazines etc. have had nothing but good words to say about us and we are very appreciative of that.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We do play live but unfortunately due to Corona virus we were unable to as the world all came to a halt.
We are aiming to play live as much as is humanly possible once the lock down is lifted and finally show all that we have to offer.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We believe we have a little something different to offer, I know millions of band all say the same thing so what I will say is that the metal scene can sometimes become a little saturated and stagnant. We aim to introduce elements and a vibe people might not be familiar with and open there minds. We are incredibly passionate about what we do and require no guise or gimmick to promote us, our music is strong enough and so are we.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Our aim is and always will be to push our sound further, develop as musicians, play live as much as we can whilst experiencing all that life has to offer.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen to all our material via our Bandcamp and Facebook pages.
