Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The history of SKELETON R.I.P. (www.myspace.com/skeletonrip) is a 1 man, solo death metal/grindcore/minimalism project that I (Anthony E. Adkins) started December 2004 in Charleston, West Virginia. The 1rst 3 track EP was titled TWAN LAUDEN - "BLACK RAIN LIFE". In late 2005 I was playing MORTAL KOMBAT & Sub Zero has a fatality move called the SKELETON RIP. So, I named the project there forward, "SKELETON R.I.P."! Fucking retarded but worked killer as the title. As of now 12/22/2009, SKELETON R.I.P. has turned into 5 EP'S & 1 LP.... & going till' 2013 & final December 8. 9 years exactly from the day it started & totally dedicated to the late metal guitar god DIMEBAG DARRELL ABOTT. A huge tragedy that was my inspiration, while literally getting me the fuck up & thinking about music, others & the rest of my life!
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
The style is a little similar to early MINISTRY & mainly death metal/grindcore/minimalism techniques. Just wanted to go in an elementary direction instead of all the technical side which I produce a little w/t a unique solo artist from Canada that goes by INTRINZIC STARE (DURAS DYE). Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?Metalheads should definatley buy the plates (our records) because I live a metal life-style, have a metal musical background, & unleash alot of my soul into/onto them. I take pride in working very hard promoting this project w/t the great assistance from DEATH STAR RECORDS (www.myspace.com/deathstarrecordswv), WESTMONT METAL RECORDS (www.westmontmmetalrecords.com), & PEST RECORDS (www.myspace.com/pestrecords).
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
SKELETON R.I.P. releases are 5 EP's & 1 LP. There will be a total of 9 EP's & 2 LP's.
So far the global public has open arms & embraced. But again, I have to thank my family, the hardcore "hellgramites" (SKELETON R.I.P. fans), the zines, underground radio, & the awesome labels I'm on for all their positive support. It feels great knowing I have the support by the ones who are most important. (me & u)
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
No live shows yet but will unleash a few in 2010. Just been real busy w/t other business endeavors & put my work on the back-burner sometimes to assist others w/t their dreams.
This is another reason I luv what I do! I have played a slew of live shows in a previous band & look 4-ward in dominating the stage again soon.
What sould labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
All labels, zines, underground radio, promoters should know that this is as authentic as you get. Pristine quality studio tracks that are meticulously recorded & mastered @ STUDIO 101 (www.myspace.com/studio101wv) in Charleston, WV.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
The plans for SKELETON R.I.P. is to record 9 EP's & 2 LP's. & the deathdate is 12/8/2013. Afterward & "possibly" a greatest hits voted in by the fans, some splits, & comps. But no new material after that date!
