Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Pomsta was formed in 2008. We went through garage period. The whole band changed repeatedly.
Today Pomsta consists of serious musicians. Everyone of them went some way in ukrainian musical underground.
Igor “Gary” plays guitar for more than 10 years. He chaged a lot of bands during this period but he thinks that POMSTA is his first serious team.
Singer Sergiy “Flash” sings in metal bands from 14 years old. Bands played very different styles of music. There is no enough interview to tell about each one.
We can say the same about drummer Max. He plays in different bands from 13 years old as guitarist, bassist and singer. There was period in his life when he moved away from playing music but his passion reborn with twice power as a drummer.
Bass player Michael “Mike” Gudzenko plays bass from 2001. He started with punk and pop-rock, played sympho-metal and art-rock. Finally he landed in a band that 100% corresponds his musical taste.
We played more than 100 concerts and we are not resting on our laurels and continue to move forward.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
The question of style is very heavy always. Some band often accuires a label and after that lots of wiseacres appear and shout: “No-no-no! You play absolutely different music!” So we play what we like. Let it be called groove metal. Yes, we are grooving.
Every Pomsta band member listens to very different music and we were under its influence. Everyone brings it`s own part to the band music and it can be told that our music is merging of worldviews of four men. But the main goal is the music must groove always. We aim that our rythmic patterns make you jump, shake your head, knock your fingers on the table e.t.c.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
We play perky as hell and make it honest. Maybe we do something not briliantly but we feel that we are on the right way. Mark of that we doing something correct in this life is when you can see unknown people singing your songs.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
We got one digital release that was released on Metal Scrap. We hope that it will be physically palpable soon. You can buy our debut EP on 24-7 Ent., 7digital, Amazon, eMusic, ITunes, Last.fm, Microsoft Audio, MTV Networks, Myspace Music, Nokia Music, Orange, Samsung, Sony Reader Store, Spotify, T-Mobile, Virgin Mega, Vodafone, Yahoo, YouTube e.t.c. (more than 600 digital shops in more than 200 countries). In addition you can get our singles “Iron Fist” and “Southern Road” from web for free.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We always play live. Metalband cannot be withot it. Studio work is very important but live playing is something special. Communication with the public feeds our inspiration very great and it`s very cool to play big gigs (we played with Tiamat and Helltrain last year) as on small stages. Every place has its atmosphere and its drive.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
We have alive musical material and we are the good guys in addition. You can work adequate with us, we don`t have hysterics and wacky breakdowns. So you can rely on us. We are adults. We can work.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We are recording our first LP and preparing a new clip presentation. It will be strong brain-crushing material. You will like it. It will be the same groove metal but with southern metal touch. You can hear it in our single Southern Road.
And we hope that geography of our concerts and festivals will expand constantly.
