Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Summoned in 2002 by Yngve and Auren. Under the name Panzerfaust, the band wrote some songs but never recorded them, so they split up. In 2008 the band was reformed by Yngve, the name was changed into Mortuus Sum and the first songs reached the surface.
Soon enough Yngve started looking for a bass player and a vocalist so the band would begin rehearsing and recording. Chained And Desperate's bass player and long time friend Jim Havok was recruited in 2010, so the lineup would be complete. With the addition of Morrigan also in 2010 writing lyrics, the band at last began recordings a few months later.
In May of 2011, a promo track entitled "Mortuus Sum" was released and the recordings for a split EP with the Greek band Blasphemahus have started. Also recordings for the first full length album have already started so it will be released hopefully around early 2012...
In August of 2011, Vaelor joined the coven as a guitarist. We welcome the new band member and hope that we will walk the infernal path together for a long time...
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Our style is purely black metal. We are influenced by the Ancient Ones (Bathory, Darkthrone, Mayhem) and Dark Funeral mostly, but all the band members are listening to various music genres, so we have a lot of different ideas, all through the black metal filter though.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
I couldn't answer why someone should buy our stuff. What I can tell is that we deliver pure black metal. Surely nowadays there cannot be originality, but I want to believe that we have material worthy listening to it.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
So far we have released a promo track entitled "Mortuus Sum" only in digital form, but a split EP is on the way and also our first full length album in early 2012 if all goes as planned.
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We haven't played any gigs yet because we weren't in full lineup. We found a guitarist so I believe that from March/April of 2012 and on, we will be ready and able to perform!
What sould labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
As I told before, I cannot possibly answer why someone should like us. It's upon everyone to check any band and see if he likes it or not! I hope that we are between the bands that people will like! This goes for labels too... I want to believe that we have the
potentials to sign a contract. Time will tell...
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
A lot of rehearsals, to release the split EP, then the album and after that, we want to play as many gigs as we can in 2012!
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can reach us on myspace at www.myspace.com/mortuussum, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MortuusSum and on ReverbNation at www.revernation.com/mortuussum. After the split is released, we will have stuff for people to buy. At the moment we have material only for the people to listen to.
