Review:
One man band from New Jersey presenting us here 2 tracks (less than 10 minutes in length) initially intended to be released by a debut demo in 2015, a fact that never happened, so they are now making it as a debut EP released on Everlasting Spew, for sure a label that sees definite potential in Hal Microutsicos and his music. Influenced by the masters of intricate Death Metal, Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal, Engulf's lyrical side reminds more of the Nocturnus direction, a sci-fi, cosmical orientation. The massive guitar work built in different multiple layers is supported by a complex drumming (programmed but sounding excellent), a powerful even brutal bass line and a hoarse, ferocious vocal, so that the end result is both old-school sounding and modern alike, I think this will appeal to both old-farts like me and teens without problems. Too bad there are only 2 tracks here and the 8 and a half minutes are quickly gone, but this will only make the album more expected. Check this out and keep this band name in mind.
