Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Started as a solo project by Topon Das in 1998, formed into a full band in 2001, we’re a 3 piece band (Topon, Mel et Vil) based in Ottawa, Ontario.
How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Heavily influenced by grindcore but not really grindcore. I love bands like Cephalic Carnage, Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Opeth, Converge, etc. We get inspired by tons of different stuff.
Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums?
Cause he likes what we do and wants to support us? In 2020, I’m not sure if people buy music for any other reason.
What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?
I haven’t even heard all of our releases so there’s no way I’ll be able to list them all. Someone was crazy enough to create a Wikipedia page dedicated to our discography.
Here’s an excerpt :
2001: Discoing the Dead (Ghetto Blaster Recordings)
2001: Mullet Fever (Ghetto Blaster Recordings)
2002: Escunta (Mandarangan Recordings)
2003: Backstabber Etiquette (Grind It! Records)
2006: Stigmata High-Five (Relapse Records)
2008: Disgorge Mexico (Relapse Records)
2011: Die Miserable (Relapse Records)
2015: Desire Will Rot (Noise Salvation)
November 20th, 2020 : Pleine Noirceur (Noise Salvation)
Do you play live as well? How's your live activity so far?
We used to play a decent amount of shows but we’ve considerably slowed down in the past few years. Let’s just say this pandemic slowed us down even more. Hopefully, we’ll be able to play again in 2021 or 2022.
What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?
There’s a reason why I don’t pitch anything to anybody: I’m not very good at it. I’m pretty sure we want to sell ourselves as little as possible. We do what we do and if it sticks or if it piques someone’s interest then good. We’ll let the music do the talking.
What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
We’ll be releasing our new album Pleine Noirceur on November 20th and, hopefully, we’ll be able to play some shows in 2021. If everything goes well, we’ll be playing M.D.F. in May 2021.
Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Hit up www.fuckthefacts.com, you’ll be able to do everything from there. Cheers!
