Review:
Wow, what a killer discovery for me! Although the band has a ton of demos and splits out, plus two full-length albums prior to this one, this is the first time I actually notice it, but I'm absolutely glad I did. The band (a trio here) sounds to me like a fantastic combination of the darkness and mystery or Greek Black Metal and the devastation and debauchery of South American old-school Thrash Black Metal, plus a serious dose of Dark Ambient Drone straight from the pits of hell. 8 tracks into 40 minutes of playing time: punishing and catchy riffs, supported by thrashy and chaotic solos, vicious and versatile vocals with plenty of memorable moments, complex rhythm section, atmospheric keys, organ and piano popping up here and there, semi-acoustic passages, all these converging towards a mysterious, deeply occult, horrifying atmosphere. There's a lot of diversity, much more than I would have expected, even the production differs from a track to another, but the overall impression is more than favorable, Black Goat sounds like a band perfectly capable of bringing hell straight to your living room. If you want old-school Black Metal with serious horror flavor don't miss this album by Black Goat.
